What is the Silk Road Program?

The Silk Road Program is a sub-category of the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Scholarship), focused on training high-level professionals and future leaders from Belt and Road countries. Degree Level

Master’s Degree Programs (3 Years | English)

PhD Programs (4 Years | English)

  1. Electrical Engineering – School of Electrical Engineering

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities except Chinese.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  1. Be a non-Chinese citizen from a Belt and Road country
  2. For Master’s: Hold a Bachelor’s degree and be under 35
  3. For PhD: Hold a Master’s degree and be under 40
  4. Meet English language proficiency:
  5. IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL iBT 80 or higher
  6. Or proof of English-taught degree or study in an English-speaking country
  7. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 or 80/100
  8. Must not be receiving any other scholarships concurrently


Application Procedure

Application Deadline

Application Documents

Prepare and upload the following documents in English or Chinese (with translations if necessary):

  1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (from CSC system)
  2. Passport copy (valid beyond September 2025)
  3. Notarized highest diploma or pre-graduation certificate
  4. Academic transcripts (undergraduate and postgraduate)
  5. English language proficiency proof
  6. Study plan (at least 1,000 words)
  7. Two recommendation letters (from professors or associate professors)
  8. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (with reports and photo)
  9. Non-criminal record (issued within 6 months)
  10. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  11. Portfolio (for art/design applicants)
  12. Additional documents (publications, certificates, awards, etc.)

  3. Agency Number for Chongqing University: 10611
  4. Apply on Chongqing University’s Portal: https://cqu.17gz.org
  5. Pay a 400 RMB application fee (non-refundable)

Step 2: University Review and Nomination

  1. Chongqing University reviews qualifications and conducts interviews (if needed)
  2. Selected applicants are nominated to CSC for final review

Step 3: CSC Final Review and Admission

  1. CSC evaluates academic performance and overall potential
  2. Final admission results are sent to applicants via email

  1. Applicants must not apply through agents—only direct applications to Chongqing University will be accepted
  2. Documents must be truthful and complete; incomplete or fake applications will be rejected
  3. Admitted students must bring original documents for registration
