APSA Public Scholarship Program 2024: Empowering Political Science Graduate Students to Bridge Academia and the Public

The American Political Science Association (APSA) is now accepting applications for its prestigious Public Scholarship Program 2024-2025. This unique 12-month remote fellowship offers political science doctoral students an invaluable opportunity to translate complex research into accessible content for the general public. With a $2,000 stipend, comprehensive training workshops, and hands-on experience with leading journals, fellows will enhance public understanding of political science. Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to domestic and international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Doctoral students in political science who have completed their first year of graduate work by the beginning of the fellowship period are eligible. 
  • Selection criteria include applicant’s interests and investment in public scholarship, as well as ability to write for a general audience. 
  • All with interest in public scholarship are encouraged to apply, regardless of existing work focus.

Application Procedure

Application Materials

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Submit a two-page maximum CV outlining contact information, academic department, relevant work and service experience, and academic achievements. Applicants with published work in popular media (e.g., The Duck of Minerva, The Monkey Cage) should include these citations alongside scholarly publications.
  • Statement of Interest: Provide a single-spaced statement of interest (maximum one page, 11-point font).
  • Writing Sample: Submit a writing sample demonstrating your ability to communicate political science to a general audience (maximum three single-spaced pages, 11-point font). This may be previously published work or a 600-word summary of a recent American Political Science Review article. Academic writing samples are not accepted.
