Eligible Nationalities

Candidates must hold citizenship in one of the ASEAN countries, specifically Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, or Indonesia.

Eligibility Criteria

The 2025 Human Resources Development in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Scholarship by AUN/SEED-Net offers exceptional candidates the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. in engineering at esteemed Japanese Partner Universities. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Affiliation: Applicants should be faculty members or outstanding students from AUN/SEED-Net Member Institutions (MIs). This includes institutions across ASEAN countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
• Age Limit: Applicants should be, in principle, not exceeding 35 years old at the time of arrival in Japan.
• Academic Qualifications: A Master's degree in a relevant engineering field is required, or candidates should be on track to obtain one before departing for Japan.
• Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate strong proficiency in English to effectively engage in study and research activities. Submission of English proficiency test scores such as TOEFL or IELTS is recommended.
• Health Status: Candidates should be in good physical and mental health to undertake the program.
• Scholarship Status: Applicants must not be recipients of other scholarships at the time of application.
