Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the National Scholarship Program 2025, students must:

  • Be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada (excluding applicants for the International President's Entrance Scholarship).
  • Achieve a minimum overall academic average of 90% on all Grade 12 U/M courses (or equivalent).
  • Apply for full-time studies at Western University’s main campus.
  • Obtain a school nomination and submit all required supporting documents.

School Nomination Process

A critical step in the application process is securing a school nomination:

  • Students must complete the Nomination Request Form within the application.
  • Enter the School Administrator’s email address to send a nomination and transcript request.
  • Confirm and follow up with the school to ensure timely completion.

Application Procedure

Reference Letter Requirements

  • Applicants must provide one reference letter from a teaching or staff member familiar with their academic and extracurricular achievements:
  • Complete the Assessor Request Form in the application.
  • Provide the assessor’s email address to send a request with instructions.
  • Follow up with your assessor to ensure submission before the deadline.

Transcript Submission

  • A single transcript must be submitted by the school directly through the application platform:
  • The transcript request is included in the nomination email.
  • Schools must upload the transcript by February 14, 2025.

Essay Submission

  • Applicants are required to write an original essay (1000-1250 words) on a public issue important to them:
  • Upload the essay in PDF format through the application portal.
  • Ensure the essay reflects your perspectives and critical thinking skills.

How to Access the Application

To access the National Scholarship Application, students need:

  • Their OUAC reference number.
  • Their date of birth.

Note: There is a processing delay of at least five business days from the date of submission to the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) before Western’s system recognizes your application.
