Eligible Nationalities

National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State can apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

Here's who qualifies for a CERN internship opportunity:

  • Citizenship: Be a national of a country that is a CERN member state or associate member state (you can find a list on the CERN website).
  • Academic Progress: By the October 2024 selection round, you must have completed at least 18 months of your undergraduate studies (Bachelor's or Master's program).
  • Active Student Status: Remain registered as a full-time student throughout your internship.
  • Language Skills: Demonstrate strong proficiency in English or French.

Application Procedure

What you'll need to apply:

  • Resume (CV): Briefly summarize your skills and experience in English or French.
  • Academic Transcript: Provide a recent copy showing your grades (ensure it's not password protected).
  • Reference Letters:
  1. A letter from a university professor is essential (mandatory).
  2. You can optionally include a second reference letter from a previous internship supervisor.

Important points to remember:

  • Gather all documents in PDF format before starting your application. Reference letters can be uploaded later.
  • Be specific in your application's "Education" and "Experience" sections.
  • Prepare answers beforehand - you have limited time to submit the application.

Traineeship Agreement:

If your university requires a specific agreement, CERN cannot sign external documents. You will need to use their provided traineeship agreement (available upon request).
