What you'll study

The programme builds a foundation in cultural and social anthropology and then applies those perspectives to organisations, work, and institutional settings. Core study typically includes introductory courses in anthropological theory and history, qualitative research methods and ethnography, and social theory. From there, organisationally focused modules explore topics such as organisational culture and change, workplace identity and power, corporate and institutional ethnography, applied research methods for businesses, and design anthropology.

• Quantitative and Mixed Methods: basic statistics, survey design and integrating quantitative data with ethnographic findings.
• Capstone/Practicum: a research project or internship with an organisation, applying anthropological methods to a real workplace problem.

Elective options often allow students to combine study with related areas such as management, communication, information studies, human resources, or user-experience design. Practical learning through internships, community projects and supervised fieldwork is a core element of the degree.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a secondary school completion credential equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. Typical entry standards include a competitive GPA and evidence of strong performance in social studies and English-language courses. Standardised test scores (SAT or ACT) may be considered where submitted, but many applicants enter without them depending on admissions policies.

• International applicants: proof of English proficiency through accepted tests or alternative evidence of English-language ability.
• Transfer students: credit is awarded for relevant completed college coursework; applicants should provide transcripts and course descriptions.

Graduates with a specialism in Organizational Anthropology develop analytical, ethnographic and communication skills that are valued across sectors. Typical career paths include roles in human resources, organisational development and change management, user-experience and market research, corporate social responsibility, training and development, and management consulting.
