It suits experienced RNs looking to move into management, lead evidence-based practice initiatives, or build a research-oriented career while maintaining clinical competence.
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programme is organised into core graduate coursework plus specialised coursework and practicum hours aligned to three pathways: Nursing Administration, Nursing Research, and Clinical Nursing. Core topics common to all pathways include advanced health assessment, healthcare informatics, epidemiology and population health, evidence-based practice, healthcare policy and leadership.
All tracks require supervised clinical or practicum hours and a culminating project appropriate to the student’s focus (administrative practicum, research thesis/project, or clinical leadership practicum). The programme may be offered in classroom, hybrid and online formats to accommodate working professionals.
Applicants must hold an active, unencumbered RN licence in the United States and have completed a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited programme or have completed prerequisite bridge coursework if applying from an associate-degree pathway. Admissions decisions consider undergraduate academic record, professional nursing experience, references, a personal statement that outlines career goals and fit with the chosen pathway, and a CV or résumé.
Some applicants may be asked to provide transcripts showing prior coursework in statistics or research methods. International applicants must meet university requirements for English language proficiency. The programme may require interview or portfolio submission for some specialisations. Specific documentation and any additional requirements (for example, immunisations, background checks or drug screening for clinical placements) are detailed in the programme admissions materials.
Graduates move into a variety of leadership and advanced practice roles depending on their pathway. Typical career outcomes include:
