What you'll study

This programme combines fundamental engineering theory with applied laboratory and project work. You will study electronic circuit analysis, analogue and digital electronics, microcontrollers and embedded systems, signals and communications, power electronics and electromechanical systems. Coursework emphasises practical system design, testing and troubleshooting alongside mathematics for engineers (calculus and linear algebra), physics, and engineering materials.

• Core modules: Circuit Theory, Digital Logic and Systems, Analogue Electronics, Microprocessors and Embedded Systems, Signals and Systems.
• Power and control: Power Electronics, Electric Machines and Drives, Industrial Control and PLCs, Renewable Energy Systems.
• Supporting engineering: Engineering Mathematics, Applied Physics for Engineers, Electronics CAD and Simulation, Instrumentation and Measurements.
• Professional and project work: Senior Design Project or Capstone, Engineering Ethics and Professional Practice, Technical Communication, Internship/Co‑op or industry practicum.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a high-school diploma or equivalent with a strong background in mathematics and science. Typical preparation includes algebra, geometry, precalculus or calculus, and at least one year of high-school physics. For mature students or those transferring from a community college, relevant technical diplomas or an associate degree in engineering technology are usually accepted, with credit transfer assessed on a course-by-course basis.
