What you'll study

The Agriculture programme blends core agricultural sciences with applied and professional training. In the early years you study foundational subjects such as biology, chemistry, soil science, plant and animal biology, and introductory agricultural economics. As you progress you take specialist modules that typically include crop production and protection (agronomy, plant pathology, entomology), soil fertility and management, horticulture, animal science and nutrition, sustainable and organic production systems, precision agriculture and agricultural engineering basics, and farm business and management.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, laboratory classes, fieldwork at on‑campus farms and research centres, and supervised practical placements. Students usually complete a capstone experience—such as a project, internship or honours thesis—where they apply scientific methods to real-world production, sustainability or policy problems. Elective options allow you to deepen expertise in areas such as food systems, pest management, conservation agriculture or agricultural policy.

Entry requirements

Admissions are based on completion of a secondary school diploma or equivalent with a strong academic record. Applicants are expected to have studied mathematics and the natural sciences in high school; chemistry and biology are particularly relevant. Experience with agricultural activities, such as work on farms, involvement in agricultural clubs or completion of related vocational courses, is advantageous.

International applicants must hold a recognised secondary qualification equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma and demonstrate English language proficiency if their previous instruction was not in English. Admission decisions take a holistic view of academic preparation, recommendations, and any relevant practical experience.
