What you'll study

The programme combines core classes in policy theory and public administration with applied coursework in research methods and quantitative analysis. Typical modules include public policy formation and analysis, microeconomics for public policy, public budgeting and finance, programme evaluation, statistics for social sciences, ethics in public service and public law.

Students also choose specialised elective topics that reflect regional and contemporary policy challenges, such as environmental and natural resource policy, urban and transportation policy, health policy, education policy and social welfare. Practical learning is emphasised through a research methods sequence, a capstone project or senior seminar and opportunities for internships or applied practicum with government agencies, non‑profits or community organisations.
