What you'll study

This master’s combines advanced coursework in clinical nutrition with applied practicum experiences and research or capstone options. Core topics typically include medical nutrition therapy for acute and chronic disease (cardiometabolic disease, renal disease, gastrointestinal disorders), nutrition assessment and intervention, nutrition support (enteral and parenteral), nutritional biochemistry and metabolism, and lifespan nutrition.

• Clinical practicum and supervised practice placements in hospital, outpatient and long‑term care settings to develop bedside assessment, counselling and interdisciplinary team skills.
• Research methods, statistics and evidence‑based practice to prepare students to interpret and apply clinical research or to undertake a thesis.
• Coursework in public health and community nutrition, leadership and management of nutrition services, ethics, and advanced counselling techniques.
• Electives or special topics may include nutrition genomics, paediatric nutrition, oncology nutrition, sports nutrition, and quality improvement in health services.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a closely related discipline. Typical application documents include official transcripts, a personal statement outlining clinical and career goals, letters of recommendation, and a current CV or résumé.

• Prerequisite coursework usually includes human nutrition, chemistry, human physiology/anatomy, and statistics; applicants without all prerequisites may be considered for conditional admission or asked to complete missing courses.
