What you'll study

This programme emphasises experimental design, quantitative methods and laboratory-based research across major domains of psychology. Core coursework typically covers research design and ethics, advanced statistics and data analysis (including regression, multilevel models and Bayesian approaches), experimental methods, and programming for behavioural data (e.g. R or Python). Students select electives from areas such as cognitive neuroscience, perception, memory, attention, social cognition, developmental psychology, decision-making, clinical science and psychophysiology.

Alongside coursework, students engage in substantial supervised research: joining faculty laboratories, conducting independent projects and completing a thesis or capstone research project. Training opportunities include hands-on experience with behavioural experiments, neuroimaging and electrophysiological methods where available, eye-tracking, computational modelling, and open-science practices such as preregistration and reproducible workflows.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold an undergraduate degree in psychology or a closely related discipline. Strong preparation in research methods and statistics is advantageous; candidates lacking formal psychology coursework may be considered if they demonstrate quantitative experience and motivation for research.
