What you'll study

This programme combines advanced coursework in curriculum, assessment and pedagogy with practicum and applied projects tailored to a chosen level or method (for example, early childhood/elementary, secondary subject methods, ESOL/bilingual education or special education pathways where available). Core themes include effective instructional design, data-informed assessment, culturally responsive teaching, classroom management, and the theory and practice of professional development.

• Core modules: educational foundations and policy, research methods in education, curriculum design, assessment and measurement, and instructional leadership.
• Methods/level modules: subject-specific pedagogy (secondary mathematics, science, language arts, etc.), elementary curriculum and literacy, bilingual/ESOL methodology and strategies for multilingual learners, or inclusive practices for students with diverse learning needs, depending on the chosen concentration.
• Professional development and leadership: adult learning theory, designing and evaluating professional learning experiences, coaching and mentoring for teachers, and school-based change processes.
• Practicum/capstone: supervised field experiences in partner schools, a portfolio demonstrating competency in the chosen level/method, and a capstone project or applied research study that addresses a real-school problem.

The programme is delivered through a mix of seminars, practicum placements, and project-based assessment. Options for part-time study and blended or online coursework are usually available to accommodate working educators.

Entry requirements

• A recognised bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Applicants typically hold a degree in education or a related field; candidates with degrees in other areas may be eligible, especially if they have relevant professional experience.
• Evidence of academic readiness, such as official transcripts and a competitive undergraduate GPA. Specific GPA requirements vary by track and cohort.
• Professional documentation: a current teaching certificate or licensure may be required or strongly recommended for some specialisms; alternative-track applicants should demonstrate relevant experience working with learners.
