What you'll study

This studio-based master’s balances concentrated practical work with critical and professional studies. You will advance technical skills in your chosen studio area while engaging with contemporary theory, art history and research methods. Typical components include sustained studio practice, graduate seminars, critique sessions, independent study, professional development and a written and/or exhibition-based thesis.

• Studio practice: focused, mentored work in a chosen concentration with regular critiques and faculty guidance.

• Professional development: grant writing, portfolio and exhibition preparation, teaching practice, and career planning.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a bachelor’s degree in art or a related field, or to demonstrate equivalent professional experience and preparation. Standard application materials typically include:

• a digital portfolio of recent work showing technical skill and conceptual development;
• a personal statement outlining artistic goals and reasons for graduate study;
• official undergraduate transcripts;
• letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees.
