The BSN curriculum builds a strong foundation in biological and behavioural sciences and progresses into nursing-specific theory, clinical decision-making and practicum work. Core subjects include anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessment, fundamentals of nursing practice, medical–surgical nursing, maternal–child and paediatric nursing, mental health nursing, community and public health nursing, and leadership and management in nursing.

• Clinical practice and simulation: Regular hands-on clinical placements across acute, ambulatory and community settings are paired with high-fidelity simulation laboratory experiences to develop assessment, technical and clinical reasoning skills.
• Research and evidence-based practice: Courses in nursing research, statistics and evidence-based practice prepare students to interpret research, apply findings to care delivery and contribute to quality improvement projects.
• Administration track: Focuses on healthcare systems, organisational behaviour, finance and human resources in nursing, preparing graduates for charge nurse or unit management roles and for graduate study in nursing administration.

Entry requirements

Admission is competitive and typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of prerequisite coursework in biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, microbiology and college-level English and mathematics. Applicants must demonstrate a competitive cumulative GPA in prerequisite and general education coursework.

• Applicants to the pre-licensure BSN should be prepared for a sequence that includes intensive clinical hours and must satisfy health, immunisation and background screening requirements prior to clinical placements.
• Registered nurses seeking the RN-to-BSN pathway must hold an active, unencumbered RN licence and will have prior nursing education and experience evaluated for transfer credit; they complete upper-division nursing courses to earn the BSN.
• Programs often require current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification and may require additional documentation such as drug screening and proof of health insurance for clinical participation.
• Selection may include program-specific assessment measures and consideration of experience, references and interview performance as part of a holistic review.

Graduates receive preparation for professional registration as a nurse and for immediate practice in a wide range of settings, including hospitals, community health organisations, long-term care facilities and outpatient clinics. Common entry-level roles include staff nurse in medical–surgical, emergency, critical care, maternal–child or paediatric units and community/public health nursing positions.
