The programme provides a grounded understanding of molecular and cellular biology framed around chemical principles. Early years focus on core topics such as biomolecules, metabolic pathways, cell biology, genetics and practical laboratory skills. As you progress you will study more specialised subjects including enzyme kinetics, protein structure and function, molecular biology techniques, genomics, signal transduction and aspects of chemical biology.
Throughout the degree you will gain hands-on experience in modern bioscience techniques (for example, protein expression and purification, chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy and molecular cloning), statistical analysis of data and the use of bioinformatics tools.
