What you'll study

This masters covers the core areas of business and management, combining taught modules, skills workshops and a major individual project. You will study subjects that build understanding of organisational behaviour, strategy, finance, marketing and operations, while developing practical skills in leadership, data analysis and consultancy.

• Core modules typically include Strategic Management, Organisational Behaviour and Leadership, Managerial Finance and Accounting, Marketing Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Research Methods for Business.
• Quantitative and digital skills focus on management statistics, decision analysis and use of business analytics tools to support evidence-based decision making.
• Applied learning through case studies, group projects, live consultancy briefs with external organisations and simulation exercises to develop problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Independent project is usually a dissertation, consultancy project or applied capstone where you investigate a real organisational problem or research question under academic supervision.
• Optional modules allow specialisation or breadth and may include topics such as Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, International Business, Sustainable Business, Digital Marketing or Innovation Management.

Teaching methods combine lectures, seminars, workshops and team-based activities. Assessment is typically a mix of examinations, coursework, presentations, group reports and the final project.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to have a good honours degree (for UK applicants this is commonly a 2:1 or equivalent) in any discipline. Candidates with a lower second-class degree together with relevant professional experience or demonstrable quantitative skills may be considered.

International applicants should hold an equivalent undergraduate qualification and meet the School's English language requirements. Applicants without a business background are welcome; the programme is designed to provide a grounding in core management areas for graduates from a range of disciplines.

Selection also takes into account personal statement, references and evidence of motivation for study; some applicants may be invited to interview.
