What you'll study

The programme combines studio-based design projects with technical, historical and professional studies to develop practical skills and conceptual thinking. Core learning is delivered through progressive design studios where you'll work on briefs ranging from domestic and commercial interiors to adaptive reuse, exhibitions and public realm proposals.

• Design Studio: iterative project work that develops spatial concept, drawing, physical and digital modelling, and presentation skills.
• Materials and Construction: understanding of structure, finishes, joinery, services coordination and detailing for safe, buildable interiors.
• Digital Techniques: CAD, BIM-lite workflows, 3D visualisation and rendering, and parametric or scripting tools for interior design development.

• Professional Practice: contracts, specifications, cost-awareness, project management, building regulations and client engagement.
• Research Methods and Dissertation/Final Project: self-directed inquiry leading to a major design thesis or built proposal demonstrating independent design thinking and resolution.

Teaching is typically a mix of workshops, seminars, studio critiques (crits), technical demonstrations and site visits. Assessment commonly includes portfolio submissions, technical drawings, models, written reports and presentations. Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a combination of academic achievement and design potential. A strong portfolio of practical work, sketchbooks and design project evidence is essential.
