What you'll study

This programme combines practical workshops, project work and theoretical study to give you an end‑to‑end understanding of contemporary media production. Core topics typically include digital video production, sound recording and design, editing and post‑production, camera and lighting techniques, and motion graphics. You will also study storytelling and scriptwriting, media law and ethics, project management and audience understanding.

Modules progressively emphasise professional practice: early years focus on technical skills and collaborative production; later years concentrate on creating a substantial final major project or portfolio and engaging with industry briefs. You will gain experience with industry‑standard kit and software, such as HD/4K cameras, studio lighting rigs, multi‑track audio recording, non‑linear editing suites, and web and interactive media tools. Optional modules or pathways often cover areas such as animation, interactive design, mobile and web content, and advanced cinematography.

Assessment is predominantly through practical projects, showreels and portfolios, supported by reflective essays, presentations and occasional written assignments. Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a secondary school qualification such as A‑levels, BTEC, T‑levels or an international equivalent. Experience of practical media work and a demonstrable creative portfolio or showreel are highly desirable.
