What you'll study

The programme builds from core computing fundamentals to specialised cybersecurity topics across three years (with an optional placement year or foundation year on eligible routes). Early modules typically cover programming, data structures, operating systems, computer networks and database systems to give a solid technical grounding.

Higher‑level and specialist modules focus on subjects such as cryptography and applied cryptosystems, network security and secure protocols, ethical hacking and penetration testing, digital forensics and incident response, secure software engineering, security management and risk assessment. You will study security law and professional ethics, and explore topics related to cloud and IoT security, malware analysis and defensive architecture.

Teaching combines lectures and seminars with extensive practical laboratory sessions, simulated security exercises, group projects and an independent final‑year project or dissertation that lets you investigate a cybersecurity problem in depth. Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to have A‑level, BTEC or equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects. Typical offers ask for qualifications in computing, mathematics or another technical subject, but Keele considers a range of qualifications and combinations.
