It suits graduates and early‑career professionals who want to pursue careers in multinational firms, international trade, consulting or public policy with an international dimension.
This master's combines core international business theory with applied skills and an independent research project. You will study modules that typically cover international business strategy, global marketing, international human resource management, cross‑cultural management and international finance, supported by a module in research methods to prepare you for your dissertation or an applied consultancy project. Teaching uses a mix of lectures, seminars, case studies and group work, with assessment by essays, presentations, business reports and the final research project.
The programme is taught over one academic year full‑time or typically over two years part‑time. Core modules are taken in the taught phase, followed by the dissertation or applied project. Optional modules may be available to let you tailor the degree to particular interests such as sustainability in international business or entrepreneurship.
Applicants normally need a UK undergraduate degree in any discipline at a minimum of lower second‑class honours (2:2) or an equivalent international qualification. Applicants with a lower undergraduate grade but with substantial relevant work experience or professional qualifications may be considered. Non‑native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency through an approved English language qualification at the level required for postgraduate study. Applicants will be assessed on academic records, references and a personal statement; some applicants may be invited to interview.
Graduates go on to careers in multinational corporations, export and trade organisations, management and strategy consultancies, international development agencies, and public sector bodies with cross‑border responsibilities. Common roles include international business manager, export manager, global marketing executive, supply chain or operations manager, and management consultant. The degree also provides preparation for doctoral study in business and management for those interested in academic or high‑level research careers.
Keele offers a campus environment with a supportive postgraduate community and a business school that emphasises applied learning and research‑informed teaching.
