Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a secondary school leaving qualification or equivalent, with evidence of passing grades in core subjects. Selection typically takes account of academic records, a personal statement explaining motivation for working in special education, and an interview or practical assessment.

• Academic transcripts demonstrating suitable attainment in relevant subjects (for example, language and social sciences).
• Personal statement or letter of motivation outlining commitment to working with learners with special needs.
• Interview and/or practical task to assess communication skills, empathy and suitability for classroom work.
• Some programmes may require background checks or health clearances prior to placements; applicants whose first language is not the programme language may be asked to demonstrate language proficiency.
