The ETH Zurich Scholarship for the academic year 2024-2025 is a fully funded program designed exclusively for international students seeking to pursue master's studies. This scholarship includes a generous grant to cover both living expenses and study-related costs (CHF 11,000 per semester) and a waiver of tuition fees.

There are two categories of scholarships available: the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Program (ESOP) and the ETH-D Scholarship. These scholarships are conferred upon highly talented students, whether they are international or domestic candidates. The key requirement is a remarkable academic performance in their Bachelor's degree (attaining the top 10% of their Bachelor's program, equivalent to a grade A).

• The Excellence Scholarship/ESOP includes a scholarship that encompasses living and study expenses (CHF 12,000 per semester) along with a tuition fee waiver.
• ESOP is granted for the standard duration of the Master's program, which spans three or four semesters. The tuition fee waiver follows the same timeline.
• ESOP participation is reserved for ETH Bachelor students, and they have the option to initiate the program with a leave of absence.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Very good result in Bachelor’s degree programme (top 10% of Bachelor’s degree programme = grade A)
2. Please make sure to be reachable under the telephone number specified in your CV as the selection process might include a phone/VC interview in February

If you are already enrolled in a Master's degree programme at ETH Zurich, or hold a Master degree, you are not eligible for ESOP.

Application Procedure

In addition to the documents for the Master admission you will need to upload a pre-​proposal for your master thesis

The pre-​proposal for the Master's thesis must be developed by yourself and use established scientific citation practice.

Plagiarism, negligent or intentional misinformation will lead to exclusion from the admission process or - if discovered later - to the revocation of the admission and of any scholarship.

If your study programme does not ask for references you must name two reference persons (professors) for your ESOP application.
