Why Apply for the Forrest PhD Scholarship?

Forrest PhD Scholars receive a comprehensive scholarship package valued at over AU$250,000 over a four-year period. This package includes:

Research Training Program Stipend

• Each scholar receives a Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend, or an equivalent university postgraduate research scholarship, valued at between $32,192 and $37,000 per annum in 2024, with annual indexing. The final amount is determined by the enrolling university.

Luxury Accommodation at Forrest Hall

• Scholars live in luxury self-contained studio apartments at Forrest Hall. The accommodation allowance, valued at $24,128 in 2024 (subject to annual indexation), covers the cost of this unique living experience. If an exemption is granted, this allowance can contribute to other residential accommodation costs.

Relocation and Research Travel Allowance

• A research and travel allowance of up to $12,000 is provided, alongside a relocation allowance for economy airfare to Perth for the scholar and immediate dependents. This allowance can be used for research-related expenses, international research, and conference travel.

International and Domestic Fee Scholarships

• International Forrest Scholars: Receive an RTP Fees Offset Scholarship or equivalent, covering full international tuition fees and overseas student health cover.

Domestic Forrest Scholars: 

• Receive an RTP Fees Offset Scholarship, exempting them from tuition fees for the duration of the scholarship.

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to domestic and  international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

The Forrest PhD Scholarships are highly competitive and open to candidates who:

• Have a bachelor’s degree of First-Class Honours standard or equivalent, typically placing in the top 5% of their graduating class.
• Demonstrate exceptional academic excellence, resourcefulness, and resilience.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and a deep curiosity about their chosen field.
• Propose original and significant research that can positively impact Western Australia and the wider world.
• Have discussed their research plans with a proposed PhD supervisor who has agreed to supervise them.

Application Procedure

To apply for the Forrest PhD Scholarship, follow these steps:
