The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship is now open for applications for the 2025/2026 academic session. Administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this fully funded scholarship provides international students the opportunity to pursue Diploma, Undergraduate Degree, and Postgraduate Master’s Degree programs at leading institutions in Brunei. The academic year is set to commence in July/August 2025.

Participating Institutions

Scholarship recipients can enroll in one of the following institutions:

• Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
• Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
• Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
• Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)
• Politeknik Brunei (PB)

Degree Level

Scholarships are available for the following levels of study:

• Diploma: Focused on vocational and professional training.
• Undergraduate: Bachelor's degree programs in diverse fields.
• Postgraduate Master’s Degree: Advanced studies in selected disciplines.

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

Age:

• Be under 25 years for Undergraduate and Diploma programs.
• Be under 35 years for Postgraduate Master’s Degree programs (as of 1 July 2025).

Language Proficiency:

• Have a Credit 6 in GCE ‘O’ Level English, a Grade ‘C’ in IGCSE English, an IELTS score of 6.0, or a TOEFL score of 550.

Other Conditions:

• The scholarship is primarily for first-time international students in Brunei.
• Bruneians, Brunei Permanent Residents, and international students who have studied in Brunei are not eligible.

Application Procedure

Check Eligibility: 

• Confirm age, language proficiency, and other criteria.

Choose a Program: 

• Review courses offered at participating institutions.

Prepare Required Documents:

• Identification cards.
• Certified copies of academic qualifications and transcripts.
• Certified English translations (if documents are not in English).
• Certified copies of birth certificate and passport.
• References and recommendation letters from referees (C1 and C2).

Submit Application:

• Fill out the online BDGS Application Form.
• Applicants to UBD and UTB must also submit applications through their respective online portals:

Important Dates

• Application Deadline: 15 February 2025.
• Interview and Examination: Applicants may be required to attend an interview or take a language proficiency test.

• Only complete and eligible applications will be considered.
• The Government of Brunei reserves the right to reject applications. The selection decision is final, and disputes will not be entertained.
