Honjo International Scholarship 2025 Japan for Graduate Students is open for International Students . The scholarship allows Masters, PhD level program(s) in the field of All Subjects taught at Japan Universities . The deadline of the scholarship is expired at 31 Oct 2024.

This scholarship program is designed for international students pursuing master's or doctoral degrees at Japanese graduate schools. The scholarship offers financial support to students from all nationalities and research fields. Applicants can apply directly to the foundation without requiring pre-selection from their university.

Benefits

Scholarship Amount:

• ¥230,000 per month for 1-2 year degrees
• ¥210,000 per month for 3 year degrees
• ¥180,000 per month for 4-5 year degrees

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

• Non-Japanese Citizenship: The applicant must not be a Japanese citizen.
• Enrollment in a Japanese Graduate School: The applicant must be enrolled or applying to a Japanese graduate school starting in January 2025.
• Professional Graduate School Enrollment (with Exception): While generally not eligible for applicants in professional graduate schools, those who can submit a research plan are considered.
• Minimum Enrollment Duration: The enrollment period until graduation must be more than 12 months.
• Age Limit: Applicants for the PhD program must be under 35 years old at the start of the PhD course, and those for the master's program must be under 30 at the start of the master's course.
• Future Career Plans: The applicant must have a strong desire to serve their home country.
• International Friendship and Goodwill: The applicant must understand the importance of international friendship, participate in foundation events, and be willing to join the alumni network.
• Japanese Language Proficiency: The applicant must be able to hold a basic conversation in Japanese. Interviews will be conducted in Japanese.

Application Procedure

Application and Screening Schedule:

• September 2 - October 31, 2024: Application period
• January 31, 2025: Result of document screening announced
• February 2025: Interviews (conducted in Tokyo or via video call)
• March 31, 2025: Final result announced
