A limited number of scholarships are specifically reserved for students from Japan, Mexico, Palestine, and the USA, reflecting priority interests of the Flemish Government

Benefits

Tuition fee waiver

  • Master Mind Scholarship holders receive a full tuition fee waiver and pay only an annual administration fee. The fee for the 2025-2026 academic year will be announced in December 2024 (for reference: the fee in 2023-2024 was € 131.50). 

Scholarship coverage

  • The incoming student will receive a scholarship of € 10,000 per academic year, for a maximum of two academic years.

Eligible Nationalities

The Master Mind Scholarship is open to all nationalities, except for Russian citizens.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have a high standard of academic performance, reflected by an excellent GPA.
  • Hold a previous degree obtained outside Flanders.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency with a valid TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge CPE test score.
  • Students who have completed an English-taught programme in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA are exempt from submitting an English language certificate.
  • However, applicants currently enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible, except in cases where they are enrolled in a preparatory programme to begin a Master's in September 2025. The scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships from the Flemish Government or the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.


Application Procedure

The application period for the 2025-2026 academic year opens on 17 October 2024 and closes on 15 January 2025, at 23:59 CET. Here are the application steps:

  • Submit a complete application for an eligible Master's programme, including the KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form as an annexe. This must be done before 15 January 2025.
  • Register your Master Mind candidacy using the online registration tool, available from 17 October 2024.
  • Once the applications are submitted, the KU Leuven Master's programmes nominate eligible students, who are then evaluated by the central KU Leuven Selection Commission. Up to 20 candidates are then recommended to the Flemish government for final selection. Successful candidates will be informed by April 2025, and final results are announced by May or early June.
