What is the MOE Taiwan Scholarship Program?


The MOE Taiwan Scholarship is designed to encourage exceptional international students (excluding those from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau) to pursue undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees in Taiwan. Managed in accordance with the Taiwan Scholarship Program Directions, this scholarship offers comprehensive financial support to help students achieve their academic goals.

MOE Taiwan Scholarship Program 2025 is available to undertake Bachelor, Masters, PhD level programs at Taiwan Universities.

Benefits

Recipients of the 2025 MOE Taiwan Scholarship will enjoy the following benefits:

Tuition and Miscellaneous Expenses: 

  • Up to NT$40,000 per semester to cover tuition and fees. If the total exceeds this amount, the student is responsible for the difference.

Monthly Stipend:

  • Undergraduate students: NT$15,000 per month
  • Graduate students (MA/PhD): NT$20,000 per month

Additionally, some universities offer discounts to cover remaining tuition and fees after the scholarship payment.

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is only open to citizens of  Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, or Kosovo.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the MOE Taiwan Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, or Kosovo.
  • Hold a high school diploma or higher degree.
  • Apply for an undergraduate or graduate program in Taiwan.
  • Demonstrate excellent academic performance and good moral character.

Note: Certain restrictions apply, such as ineligibility for R.O.C. nationals, dual-degree students, or those already receiving other Taiwanese government scholarships.

Application Procedure

Applications for the 2025 MOE Taiwan Scholarship must be submitted online through the official portal: https://Taiwanscholarship.moe.gov.tw/Apply. The application window is open from February 1 to March 31, 2025.

Required Documents:

  • Completed online application form
  • Copy of passport or nationality certificate
  • Academic transcripts and highest degree certificate (translated into Chinese or English if necessary)
  • Proof of application to a Taiwanese university/college
  • Language proficiency certificate (if applicable)
  • Two sealed letters of recommendation
  • Signed Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreement

Selection Process

The Taipei Representative Office in Hungary will review all applications and may conduct interviews if necessary. Successful candidates will be notified by May 31, 2025, and must submit proof of admission to a Taiwanese university by June 30, 2025.
