Scholarship Description: The Institute for Science Education and Communication is inviting applications for PhD Scholarship in Science Education. The student will be enrolled in the PhD scholarship programme and receive a scholarship of € 2,099 per month (gross) from the University of Groningen for a period of four years.

The PhD degree in science education offers candidates opportunities to undertake in-depth explorations of current research and theory in science teaching and learning across the spectrum of formal and informal education.

Eligible Nationalities: This scholarship is available for international students.

Eligibility Criteria: Educational background and a recently completed master’s degree in any of the following fields:

• Educational Sciences, Science education, Natural sciences, Science communication, or a related field


• competence in research methods in the social sciences either quantitative or qualitative


• proven excellent oral and written English skills


• excellent communication and collaboration skills


• eagerness to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment


• Dutch proficiency is not a requirement but it will be considered as an advantage.
