About the Fellowship




The Peking-Princeton Postdoctoral Program (PPPP) is a two-year fellowship that combines the academic strengths of Peking University and Princeton University. Fellows will spend the first 12 months at Peking University in Beijing, China, followed by the next 12 months at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA. During the second year, fellows will hold a visiting appointment at Peking University. The preferred start date is September 1, 2025.

Funding and Benefits

  • At Peking University: Fellows will receive a competitive stipend and benefits under the Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Additional research funding from external sources may also be available.
  • At Princeton University: Fellows will receive a competitive stipend, access to resources at the Paul and Marcia Wythes Center on Contemporary China, and eligibility for Princeton’s employee benefits. Travel funding may also be available.

Eligible Nationalities

This fellowship is open to domestic and international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a PhD degree obtained no more than three years before the start of the fellowship.
  • Candidates must secure endorsement letters from faculty supervisors at both Peking University and Princeton University.
  • The program is open to both internal and external candidates. However, applicants holding tenure or tenure-track faculty positions are not eligible.

Application Procedure

Application Requirements

To apply, candidates must submit the following documents in English:

  • A research proposal and time plan (max. 10 pages, including tables/figures and references).
  • A concise Curriculum Vitae (max. 4 pages).
  • Contact information for two recommendation letters (including one from the applicant’s doctoral supervisor).
  • Endorsement letters from potential supervisors at both Peking University and Princeton University.
  • One writing sample (not exceeding 10MB).

Applications must be submitted through Princeton University’s online portal by February 28, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
