Degree Level

Taiwan NYCU International Student Scholarship for BS, MS and PhD (Spring Intake 2025) is available to undertake Bachelor, Masters, PhD level programs at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.

Benefits

1. Outstanding New Student Scholarships

  • Monthly Stipend and Tuition Scholarships:
  • Stipend amount and frequency determined by the Committee.
  • Tuition scholarships may include full waivers or reduced fees according to local student rates.

Award Duration:

  • Initially approved for 1 year, with potential maximum durations of 5 years for Ph.D. students, 2 years for master's students, and 4 years for bachelor's students.

Renewal Requirements:

  • Minimum semester average grade of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates.
  • First-time renewal based on advisor evaluation.

2. Elite Ph.D. Scholarship for New Students Award:

Scholarships Award:

  • NT$33,000 per month and full waiver of tuition and credit fees.

Award Duration:

  • Available for the first 2 years of study, subject to review and potential continuation under different criteria.

Award Regulations:

  • Comprises NT$25,000 from the Office of International Affairs and NT$8,000 from the advisor.

3. Outstanding Existing Student Scholarship:

  • Monthly Stipend and Tuition Scholarships:
  • Stipend and tuition scholarships awarded based on performance, with similar structure to new student scholarships.

Award Duration:

  • Maximum durations of 5 years for Ph.D. students, 2 years for master's students, and 4 years for bachelor's students.

Renewal Requirements:

  • Minimum semester average grade of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates.


Eligible Nationalities

These scholarships are open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Outstanding New Student Scholarships:

  • New students with outstanding grades who have not received other scholarships or grants from the government.
  • Performance review conducted by departments and colleges.

2. Elite Ph.D. Scholarship for New Students Award:

  • New Ph.D. students with outstanding grades and no government scholarships or grants.
  • Direct pursuit of the Ph.D. degree for the semester.

3. Outstanding Existing Student Scholarship:

  • International students who have completed at least one semester at the University.
  • Graduate students must take at least one professional core course per semester and maintain a GPA of 3.5.
  • Undergraduate students must maintain a GPA of 3.0.

Application Procedure

1. Outstanding New Student Scholarships:

Review Procedure:

  • Departments review past grades or research performance.
  • Colleges review results and submit the list to the Committee.
  • Award amounts and numbers adjusted based on budget.

Documents Required:

  • Past academic records or research performance details.

2. Elite Ph.D. Scholarship for New Students Award:

Review Procedure:

  • Similar to Outstanding New Student Scholarships.

Documents Required:

  • Agreement form for advisor’s matching-fund within 2 months into the semester.

Performance Review:

  • Maintain a semester average grade of 3.76 or above.

3. Outstanding Existing Student Scholarship:

Application Documents:

  • Application form.
  • Full-academic year transcripts.
  • Conduct Grade: A or above.
  • Recommendation letter from the advisor.
  • Research proposal or thesis/dissertation description (for graduates).
  • Certificates of volunteer work or public welfare activities (optional).

Application Procedure:

  • Submit applications according to the announced time and regulations.
  • Departments conduct preliminary reviews based on academic or research performance.
  • Colleges review and prioritize the results before submission to the Committee.
  • Awards adjusted based on budget considerations.

Note: Awardees of international student scholarships must fulfill certain requirements, such as taking Mandarin courses, maintaining academic performance, and not receiving other government scholarships concurrently. Non-compliance may result in termination or adjustment of the awards.
