The Chevening Scholarships 2025 provide outstanding emerging leaders from around the globe with the opportunity to pursue a one-year master’s degree in the United Kingdom. While there is no specific profile for a Chevening Scholar, the program seeks individuals with a strong passion, innovative thinking, and the ability to create positive change, with a focus on addressing global challenges and leading towards a brighter future.

These prestigious scholarships are fully funded, covering airfare, accommodation, and tuition fees, enabling recipients to focus entirely on achieving their academic and professional goals while experiencing a transformative journey. Scholars will spend a year studying and living in the UK, where they will undergo substantial personal and academic development, significantly broaden their networks, immerse themselves in British culture, and forge lasting connections with the UK.

Upon completing their studies, Chevening Scholars will return home equipped with valuable knowledge and networks, empowering them to turn their ideas into impactful actions and contribute to the betterment of their communities and beyond.

The Chevening Scholarship offers a unique opportunity for outstanding professionals from around the world to pursue a master's degree at a UK university. The scholarship provides full financial support, including:

  • Tuition fees: Coverage of your university tuition.

  • Return flights: Economy class return airfare to and from the UK.
  • Arrival allowance: A one-time payment to help with initial expenses upon arrival in the UK.
  • Homeward departure allowance: A one-time payment to assist with expenses upon departure from the UK.

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities. 



Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.  
  • Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after your scholarship ends.
  • Have at least two years of work experience (2,800 hours).
  • Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master's program.
  • Apply to three different and eligible UK university courses. You must have received an unconditional offer from at least one of these course choices by the references and education documents deadline.

You are not eligible for a Chevening Scholarship if you:

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong). 
  • Hold refugee status in a country not eligible for Chevening.  
  • Are an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of the UK government, British Embassies/High Commissions, the British Council, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, or sponsoring UK universities.
  • Have previously studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship.

Note:

Having a master's degree does not prevent you from applying for a second master's degree in the UK, providing you can articulate how it aligns with your career goals and will help you to drive positive change in your home country.

Once submitted, applications undergo an electronic sift against our eligibility criteria. Any applications deemed ineligible will be removed from the selection process. Please see the list of common errors here. If you make these errors in your application form, your application will be ineligible. Please note that once your application has been submitted, it is not possible to change it retrospectively.
