The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and University of Adelaide Research Scholarships offer a range of benefits:

1. Stipends:

• RTP Stipend for full-time students: $34,210 pa (indexed annually)
• RTP Stipend for half-time students: $17,105 pa (indexed annually)
• RTP Stipend for Indigenous full-time students: $50,291 pa (indexed annually)
• RTP Stipend for Indigenous half-time students: $25,145.50 pa (indexed annually)
• Stipend amounts may be subject to taxation; independent financial advice is recommended.

2. Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset / Tuition Fee Waiver:

• Domestic students receive an RTP Fee Offset covering tuition fees.
• International students with RTP Scholarship receive a tuition fee waiver.
• International students with University of Adelaide Research Scholarship have tuition fees waived.

3. Allowances:

• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC):
  • International students receive compulsory Medibank OSHC.
  • Coverage duration: up to 27 months for Research Masters, up to 48 months for Research Doctorate.
• Relocation Allowance:
  • Domestic students: up to AUD$1,000.
  • International students: up to AUD$1,500.
• Visa Entitlements and Requirements:
  • International candidates bear visa application fees and medical examination costs.
• Early Submission Allowance:
  • Eligible for stipend equivalent up to two months upon early thesis submission.
  • Payment made within 4 weeks of thesis submission.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Enrollment Requirements:

• Applicants must be eligible for full-time enrollment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at the University of Adelaide.

2. International Status:

• International applicants must maintain 'international student' status throughout their enrollment.

3. Qualifications in Progress:

• Qualifications in progress won't be considered unless completed by the scholarship closing date.

4. Language Proficiency:

• International applicants must provide evidence of meeting English language proficiency requirements.

5. Scholarship and Award Restrictions:

• Applicants must not hold certain scholarships or awards from the Commonwealth Government.

6. Funding Limitations:

• Applicants for a Research Training Program Stipend must not have equivalent funding exceeding 75% of the base stipend.

7. Commencement Readiness:

• Readiness to commence research during specified periods is essential.

1. Previous Applicants:

• Unsuccessful applicants can reapply in subsequent rounds.

2. Applicants Holding a PhD:

• Preference given to those without an equivalent research degree.

3. Currently Enrolled Candidates:

• Apply, considering completed work before the current HDR study.

4. Indigenous Applicants:

• Eligible for the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (Indigenous) with confirmation of heritage.

5. Compliance:

• Preference for candidates with no raised concerns post-review regarding non-academic refusal grounds.
