The University of Lausanne (UNIL) proudly announces its annual Master's Grants Scholarships 2025, designed to attract highly talented students from around the world. This prestigious scholarship is awarded exclusively to students who have graduated from foreign universities and possess outstanding academic records. Each year, UNIL grants approximately ten scholarships to deserving candidates, providing them with the opportunity to pursue their Master’s studies in a world-class academic environment.

Degree Level

University of Lausanne Switzerland UNIL Masters Grants Scholarships 2025 is available to undertake Masters level programs at University of Lausanne.

Available Subjects

The list of all master’s degrees at UNIL for which it is possible to apply, can be found at this address.

It is however not possible to apply for the following master programmes:

  • Master from the School of Medicine
  • Master in Sciences and Practices of Education
  • Master of Law. Exceptions: Open to applications for Masters Scholarships : Specialisms "International and Comparative Law", "Legal Theory" and "International Tax Law and Policy"
  • Master of Science in Physical Education and Sport Didactics
  • Master of Science in Health Sciences
  • Master of Science in Sustainable Management & Technology
  • Master of Science in Human Taphonomy
  • All MASs (3rd cycle programmes, Further Education programmes)

Additional requirements:

For the Master in psychology, students holding a foreign Bachelor in psychology must have obtained a place of study for a master in psychology at a university in the country where the bachelor was awarded.​​​​​​

For the Master in finance, students holding a foreign Bachelor in the same field of studies must have obtained a place of study for a master in finance at a university in the country where the bachelor was awarded.


Benefits

The Master’s Excellence Scholarship includes a financial grant of CHF 1,600 per month, awarded for the minimum statutory duration of the selected Master's program. While this grant significantly contributes to living expenses, candidates are advised that it is not a fully funded scholarship. Applicants are encouraged to consult the reference budget for living costs in Switzerland, as additional financial planning may be necessary.

In addition to the financial support, scholarship recipients will be exempt from the fixed registration fees for their studies at UNIL, apart from a minimal administrative fee of CHF 80 per semester. This exemption further reduces the financial burden on students, allowing them to focus on their academic goals.



Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must hold a foreign university degree that is equivalent to a Swiss bachelor's degree, obtained before the start of the master's program at UNIL.
  • Must have demonstrated exceptional academic performance during previous studies.
  • Must have a minimum language proficiency of C1 in French or C1 in English, depending on the language of instruction for the chosen master’s program.
  • Must not be currently registered at UNIL.
  • Must have paid the CHF 200.00 administrative fee (refer to the document "list of documents for an application").
  • Withdrawal from the master's program will result in the suspension of the scholarship.

Application Procedure

Application for Masters Scholarship and Admission

Important Note: The application form for the Masters Scholarship also serves as an application for admission to the chosen Master's program at UNIL. Therefore, you do not need to submit a separate application to the Admission Office (SII).  

Online Application and Required Documents:

  • Online Submission: Candidates must apply online and upload their complete application file in PDF format.
  • Required Documents: Refer to the accompanying document for a detailed list of required documents.
  • Incomplete Applications: Applications that are incomplete or submitted by email will not be considered.
Certified Copies for Non-Lisbon Recognition Convention Countries: If your bachelor's degree was issued from a university in a country that has not ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention, you must send a certified copy of your university documents in a sealed envelope by postal mail. Please consult the provided information for the specific procedure regarding certified copies.

Note for Lisbon Recognition Convention Countries: Candidates with a bachelor's degree from a university in a country that has ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention do not need to send certified copies by postal mail.

  • Start Dates: The chosen Master's program will begin in the following academic year, either in the autumn or spring semester (if applicable).
