To apply for a Clarendon scholarship, you should follow the application timeline and procedures outlined below:
Choose the Appropriate Deadline: Depending on your course of study, you should apply by either the December or January deadline to be considered for a Clarendon scholarship. Ensure you check which deadline is relevant to your program.
Academic Assessment: Your application to your chosen course will be assessed by the academic staff in your proposed field of study. They will evaluate the academic quality and suitability of your application.
Departmental Decision: The department responsible for your course will make the final decision regarding your graduate placement and will notify you of the outcome. Refer to the decision timeline for specific details on when you can expect to hear back.
Clarendon Nomination: Simultaneously, academics within your department will select candidates to nominate for the Clarendon scholarship based on specific selection criteria.
Divisional Allocation: Each academic division at the University, including the Department for Continuing Education, conducts a review of departmental scholarship nominations. Nominations are assessed based on academic merit and future potential. The top-ranked nominees from each division are shortlisted for the Clarendon scholarship.
Offer Letter: Once the shortlist is confirmed, successful Clarendon candidates will be contacted by the Clarendon Fund Administrator. You will receive a scholarship offer letter, also known as a 'CB1' letter. This offer secures your funding, provided you meet the conditions of your offer of a place to study at Oxford.
Funding Package Confirmation: During April, May, and possibly into June, Clarendon Partnership Awards are matched to scholars based on award requirements. No further information is needed from Clarendon offer holders. Each scholar will receive a funding breakdown letter, known as a 'CB2' letter, outlining the funding arrangements. Final college placements will also be confirmed alongside partnership awards.
Notification of Scholarship Decisions: Successful Clarendon scholarship candidates will receive notifications via email. Offers are typically sent out by the end of April each year. If you do not receive communication from the Clarendon program by mid-June, assume that you were not awarded a scholarship.
Please keep in mind that due to the high number of eligible applicants, unsuccessful students may not receive notifications. Late nominations may occur during the summer if nominated students withdraw from consideration.
