Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Fast-track Graduate Fellowships Award: Full-time students in the GIS Fast-track graduate program; must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Graduate Fellowships Award: Current and newly admitted graduate students in the UTD GIS program; must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Transfer Student Scholarship Award: High-achieving students transferring from a local community college; must be admitted to the UTD GIS program and a U.S. citizen.
  • Pioneer Student Research Fund: Open to both domestic and international students; supports data, software, hardware, and travel expenses. Out-of-state students may qualify for in-state tuition support, and Teaching Assistants (TAs) may receive priority for travel-related expenses.

Application Procedure

The application process is straightforward. Interested students must submit their applications and supporting materials via email to Dr. Yongwan Chun at ywchun@utdallas.edu by March 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM CST. Successful applicants will be notified in mid to late April 2025, and scholarship funds will be disbursed after the start of the Fall 2025 semester.
