Applying for the Scholarship:

• You can apply for the Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship twice a year: during Autumn Quarter and Winter Quarter.
• The scholarship awards $5,000 in total, spread out over two quarters in installments of $2,500 each.
• If you're a graduating senior with only one quarter remaining, you can choose to receive a one-time award of $2,500 for that final quarter.

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship:

• You must be a registered undergraduate student at the University of Washington (UW) Bothell, Seattle, or Tacoma campus, and be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree. Full-time enrollment is required throughout the award period.
• If you have other financial awards that support your leadership activities and are also chosen for this scholarship, the total amount you receive might be adjusted. We recommend contacting a Mary Gates Endowment staff member to discuss your specific situation.
• To maintain the scholarship, you must actively participate in your chosen leadership project and remain a full-time student during the award period. During the summer quarter, only one credit is required for continued funding.
• You can only receive one Mary Gates scholarship at a time. While you can apply for multiple scholarships, you can only get funding for one per quarter.

Previous Mary Gates Scholarship Recipients:

• If you've already received the same type of Mary Gates scholarship twice, you cannot apply for it again.
• In total, you can receive a maximum of three Research and Leadership Scholarships combined. For instance, if you've gotten two Research Scholarships before, you can only get one Leadership Scholarship.
